Copy Cat Levain Cookie Recipe

Hello! Friends!! So todays post is a copy cat recipe that I got off Delish YouTube, it is a recipe from a famous bakery in New York and the cookie is called Levain. I watched the video like 3 times to get the recipe and it was well worth it! I tried to video it myself to make a quick YouTube but I just cant do it (lol) so I shortened the clips and made a tab on my IG labeled CC Levain 🍪, you can check it out there. Now most of the ingredients are basic staples in the house, I did have to get cake flower and walnuts, everything else I keep on the regular. This cookie is a labor of love, So lets get started.

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 cup cake flour

  • 2 tsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Now to start mix the dry ingredients in a regular bowl and then we will start the wet ingredients in the mixer (if you have one) or in a separate bowl

Wet Ingredients:

  • 2 sticks cold butter cubbed

  • 2/3 cup sugar

  • 2/3 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup walnuts

  • 2 cups chocolate chips

  • 2 eggs

Ok I know those are not all wet ingredients but you mix those together in mixer, then slowly add the dry ingredients from the first bowl, now normally you would preheat the oven but because this mix has to be cold or frozen dont do that until later.

Once everything is mixed, scoop, spoon or grab a big handful on form it into a big ball of sorts. According to the recipe this mixture makes 8-6oz cookies so they are huge, I made mine a little smaller because 6oz cookies would get wasted. Once the cookies are formed put in freezer for 30 minutes to a hour or refrigerate for 2 hours. (I refrigerated because I have the smallest freezer) Once dough is cold preheat oven to 375* and bake for about 26 minutes. Once done let cool, the outside should be crisp and the middle oooy gooey.

Ive made these twice now and they are fantastic, Ive never been to New York and had the originals b it if they are close to this, I hope to try them one day, either way you wont be disappointed I promise!!

As always thanks for reading, I hope you make these and it makes you happy!!

XOXO Nikki
